Doctor Strange is the most famous wizard of the Marvel franchise starring the first actor Bennedick Cunbreback as Stephen Strange. A self-centered, pushy, and highly successful neurosurgeon who has saved tons of lives. His life takes an unexpected turn when he suffers an accident that seriously injures his hands. After trying to cure them by all possible human means and failing, he ends up in Nepal, where his world changes completely. During his trip to Nepal, he finds a temple called Kamar-Taj, there thanks to the sorcerer Mordo he meets The Ancient One who trains him in the mystical arts and where he begins his path as the supreme sorcerer of the earth. From the beginning the plot reminds us that Strange is destinated to be a great sorcerer. This is obvious since the movie bears his name, but the script insists on reminding us of that very often, which becomes annoying even if they try to justify it with the character's photographic memory and his great skills as a doctor. Doctor Strange faces off against a villain named Kaecilius, an old apprentice of the Ancient One who has stolen a mysterious ritual from 'The Book of Cagliostro'. The villans main problem is that the motivation is interesting, but there's nothing that makes the viewer care. Many times Kaecilius mentions that he arrived "broken" to train with the Ancient, but we never see anything from that stage. I mean, there's no justification. The villain wants the earth to enter the Dark Dimension and… that's it. So the only thing the villain cares about is the final showdown. the idea of the mirror dimension that seems wonderful, however, many elements come from a replica of the movie inception, so we can not give it all the credit. Despite the "excellent" performances, characters like Christine, Mordo or Wong have a good time on screen, but they don't do anything that stands out.
The part where Doctor Strange shines the most, as expected, is in the visual aspect. The psychodelic trip they promised from the start is true and for a movie that requires so much CGI, it looks good and sometimes fits well with the music. However, it seems that the only thing they give us is a children's film, where we dont delve into anything, I mean, that is spectacular, but without reflective content.
The best thing about the film is the performance of Benedick Cumberbatch, who knew how to adapt to the script in an excellent way.
